Aerial Survey Benefits

Ensign Engineering has the capability and authorization from the FAA (Section 333 and Part 107) to perform flights for aerial survey using Unmanned Aerial System's (UAS) or drones. As of April 2016 Ensign is currently the only commercial survey and engineering company in the state of Utah that has these Federal Exemptions and UAS authorizations to conduct Drone Aerial Mapping.
The amount of data that can be collected with drones is astounding. With high-definition, high-accuracy (usually 1-3", but in most cases better than 0.1' horizontal and vertical) orthomosaics to 3D modeled buildings. Whatever your surveying and mapping needs are, we can provide it to you.

Super High Resolution Orthomosaic

Super High Resolution Orthomosaic

Possibly one of the most beneficial products of aerial survey is the super high resolution Orthomosaic. Not only can you zoom into the ortho and see incredible detail, you can also use to use this data to overlay onto less accurate and detailed maps.
Also, another benefit of an ortho is the correct perspective. If you take two pictures next to a building at different angles, then that can skew the perspective and make it difficult to pull measurements from the data. With an Orthomosaic it corrects for that perspective giving you accurate data from a top-down perspective.

Near-infrared allows us to see plant growth and the healthyness of vegitation. This platform is perfect for farms or campuses to evaluate quickly where they need to spot treat with fertilizer or pest control.

3D Point Cloud

3D Point Cloud

Similar to the output of a lidar scanner with accuracies of up to 1-3 inces, we can gain measurements from any of the millions of points from the project. As every point is coordinated, distances can be measured between points in AutoCAD™. Quick, complete surface geometry is safely and accurately captured.
The 3D point cloud can be used with the appropriate software to view, pan, zoom, and rotate in 3D and obtain measurements from point to point instantly. With additional post-processing and laser scanning services, the raw data can be translated into accurate 2D or 3D AutoCAD drawings to be utilized for 3D visual walk-through and 2D or 3D design, and can even be rendered further into a full 3D solid model.
